Sports Ministry

Ladywood Youth for Christ Sports

Ladywood Youth for Christ sports sessions run for an hour each week for ages 8-14. Sessions involve: a ‘prayer before play’, then our recreational football session, with a short, punchy Christian message related to a sports theme at half-time. The project is extremely popular with approximately 24 young people coming along each week.

Ladywood Youth for Christ Sports hope to bring and encourage true Christian values such as respect, tolerance, sportsmanship and teamwork throughout.

Sport Way Academy

The Sport Way Academy is a 12-week course, which enables a group of young people aged 12-16 to achieve a qualification in Sports Leaders’ Level 1; alongside, young leader training and guidance from a mentor. The Sport Way Academy is in partnership between: St John’s & St Peter’s Church, Newbigin School of Urban Leadership, Scripture Union and Ladywood Youth for Christ Sports.

The course offers young people the opportunity to grow in their sport and coaching skills, together with development of life skills and personal growth. Sport Way Academy has a clear Christian framework, which shapes our focus in equipping young people, to become young leaders amongst their friends and family, and to make a positive difference in their local community.
