about us

“We wish to see Jesus!” John 12:21

- We love Jesus and delight in the many ways we encounter Him -

Everything we do at SJSP flows from worship and prayer and we excel in preaching and lively teaching in many formats that reflect who we are in God. Incarnating the love of Jesus in ministries across Ladywood that “seek the shalom” of the city. Isaiah 58:6-12, and Jeremiah 29:11-14

Praying you will partner with us as we further the Kingdom of God –“being confident of this, that God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

Our Story

The Anglican Parishes of St John’s Ladywood and St Peter’s Spring Hill came together in 2000, to continue to be a living and faithful presence of God in inner city Birmingham going back over 150 years.

We are “hard wired” into our community – including ministry in schools and a whole range of youth and children’s work that we have built up with local volunteers. Ladywood is a place of great transition and diversity- but we are in it for the “long haul” – called by God to be “promise keepers” and “way makers” alongside local church and community partners.

The interior of the church was completely refurbished over 20 years ago - some of our gallery pictures give you a flavour of the range of activities and who we are- all to the glory of God.

Our Vision

Aiming to be channels of God’s transforming Love:

Building a beloved community that is: Intentional, Intercultural, Inter-generational            and In Christ the Hope of Glory.

Core scriptures that underpin our vision:

Matthew 28: 18-20- The great Commission- making disciples globally

Acts 11:19-26. Acts 13:1-3- an “Antioch church” for 21st century Birmingham

Revelation 7:9-10 – a worshipping community that gives us a preview of our future in Heaven.
