St John's and St Peter’s Church (incorporating Ladywood ARC) is a beautiful, sacred space and is well known for its excellent acoustics. The church was reordered internally in the early 2000's and pews were replaced with lose furniture, making the space incredibly flexible. We're able to seat up to 350 people (including performers) and this combined with the flexibility of the space and excellent acoustic means the church is a popular venue all kinds of events.

Concerts

In addition to regular worship services, weddings, baptisms and funerals mentioned elsewhere, the church is a popular performance venue with choirs and orchestra's hiring the space for concerts. Regular performers include; Birmingham Festival Choral Society, Birmingham Schools Music Service, Euphonious Faith Music School, Handsworth Grammar School, Midlands Hospitals Choir, Notorious, Quinton Community Choir and the Wellbeing Community Choir.

Rehearsals

The Church is also a popular rehearsal venue and once again, the flexibility of the space is much appreciated by users. It's an inspiring space in which to rehearse and musicians often comment that the excellent acoustic means that it's never a daunting space in which to rehearse. Users also tell us that they appreciate our under floor heating, especially in the depths of Winter! Regular rehearsals are held by Ex Cathedra choir and their various youth academies and various section from the Birmingham Schools Music Service.

Conferencing & other events

The church is also a popular conference venue, catering from small events right up to our capacity of 350. We can offer a flip cart, overhead projector and projection screen. It's also possible to link IT equipment through our audio system and the church has a Wi-Fi network which is available to users.

In recent years the church has been hired for 'one-off' events including; fashion shows and photo-shoots, barn dances, ceilidh's, birthday parties and wedding receptions to name but a few. Please speak to us directly if you're planning something out of the ordinary.

Accessibility

The church has full disabled access and facilities and is fitted with a hearing loop.

Equipment & instruments

We have two piano's including an upright and a Challen ‘boudoir’ grand which is very well regarded by users. Both pianos are available for hire and are regularly tuned. We also have an Allen electronic Church organ.

We have a small portable staging kit which can be hired if required.

There are 8 large folding tables in church and others can be sourced from the church hall if required.

Kitchenette

The Church has a small but well kitted out kitchenette, which includes - built in water boilers, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

The ‘pod’ design of the kitchenette enables a number of flexible options with a moveable counter and breakout section which can be used as a separate serving station.

Location & how to find us

We are situated on Birmingham's inner ring road on Ladywood Middleway just north of Five Ways Edgbaston. We have a small car park and are lucky to be surrounded by ample free on street parking.

Bus routes serving the church include the 8a, 80 and 10H.

Access to the rail network is via Five Ways station on the Cross City Line (10 mins walk) and New Street station (20 mins walk).

The Church is signposted locally as Ladywood ARC.
